Mazen KHALED (Lebanon) is a screenwriter and filmmaker based in the US. He earned his BA degree in Political Science from the American University of Beirut in 1990 and his MA degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University in 1993. He also graduated in Film Production from Concordia University and Screenwriting from FSU College of Motion Picture Arts in 2020. He has worked as a creative director at various advertising agencies, directing television commercials and corporate films. He is also one of the founders of EXIST, an arts collective in Beirut. In 2002, he debuted his first short film Cadillac Blues. His works focus on telling stories through the physical, reflecting on the body’s gracefulness, awkwardness, and capacity to generate and channel meaning. His films have been screened at various film festivals worldwide, including Venice International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, and Dubai International Film Festival. Martyr (2017) premiered at SXSW and Venice International Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Queer Lion award.
