LOU Ye (1965, China) studied film directing in Beijing. He has worked as producer and assistant director on various productions and has made several short films. In 1994 he made his first feature film, Weekend Lover. In the mid-nineties he produced Super City, a project of ten full-length films directed by the best of the new Chinese generation. In 2000 he won the VPRO Tiger Award in Rotterdam for Suzhou River.

Lou Ye

Impressionist film about a passionate homosexual relationship between the married intellectual Wang Ping and the transvestite Jiang Cheng. After Summer Palace, the Chinese director Lou Ye seems again to seek confrontation with the Chinese authorities.
