Her screenplay for Marina was supported by the Hubert Bals Fund and won the Best Script Award at the Holland Film Meeting. As the writer and co-director of Marina, she was mentored by Karim Aïnouz during the screenwriting lab Porto Iracema das Artes, where she was awarded the Best Pitching Award. Before that, Marina was selected by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture for the programme for new screenwriters. In 2019, Araújo directed her first fiction short, Sometimes We’re the Same Height, that premiered at IFFR. She has also directed experimental films and short documentaries that aired on TV and screened at international festivals.

Marina
Marina, the only black teen in her wealthy private school, prepares for her dream 15th birthday party. Meanwhile, dozens of bodies with bullet holes are found in her tropical hometown.
