Kore-eda Hirokazu
KORE-EDA Hirokazu (1962, Japan) studied at Waseda University while planning to become a writer, but eventually made many prize-winning television documentaries first. Ever since his debut feature Maborosi (1995), almost all his work has been presented in Rotterdam. Eventually Kore-eda also published a novel: But ... A Welfare Bureaucrat: A Trace to Death. His films were awarded several international prices, such as the Jury Price in Cannes for Like Father, Like Son (2013).
