Joël Curtz

Filmmaker Joël CURTZ (1985, Paris) was educated at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts-Décoratifs in Strasbourg, the University of Arts in Berlin and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under the tutelage of filmmaker Harun Farocki. His first documentary short The Bride (2012) was selected for several festivals, including IDFA. In 2014, he obtained a scholarship for a documentary project on the socio-political situation and the role of Buddhist monks in Myanmar. His co-directed documentary Burma, The Power of Monks emerged from that.
