Jennifer BAICHWAL (Montreal, Canada) studied at McGill University in Montreal where she obtained an M.A. in religious studies. Since 1998 she has been making documentaries. Let It Come Down: The Life of Paul Bowles, her first feature documentary, won a 1999 International Emmy for Best Arts Documentary. After Manufactured Landscapes she started to work on Act of God, a documentary on the metaphysical effects of being struck by lightning.

The director manages to give his work topical and philosophical added value by placing his largely aesthetic work into the naked reality of workers and unnamed bystanders.
