Jef Cassiers

Jef CASSIERS (1929 – 1987, Belgium) was a Belgian comedian, actor and filmmaker. He grew up in Antwerp and rose to fame when he started the comic act The Woodpeckers, together with his brother. At the end of the 1950s he acted in a series of Flemish comedies and he also played a role in the children’s series Johan en de Alverman (1965). In 1984 he directed the first feature length Flemish animation film: Jan zonder vrees, an adaptation of the book of the same name by Constant De Kinder. Cassiers passed away in 1987, at the age of 57.
