Jan Dibbets

The artist Jan DIBBETS (1941, Netherlands) started his career as a painter and conceptual artist, but moved into photography and filmmaking in the late 60s, when he developed a fascination for the perception of spatiality and the manipulation of perspective by means of the camera. He studied at the art academy in Tilburg, several years later continued his training at Saint Martin’s School in London and represented The Netherlands at the Venice Biennale in 1972. He worked as a professor at Ateliers ’63 in Haarlem at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. He furthermore won the Rembrandt Prize from the F.V.S. Stiftung in Basel and the Sikkens Prize.
