Jahmil X.T. QUBEKA was born in South Africa and grew up in London. His fiction films and documentaries have been screened at international festivals, including at Cannes, Busan, Dubai and Rotterdam. In 2005 he won the American Peabody Award for a documentary about AIDS which he made for Sesame Street. He made his feature directing debut with A Small Town Called Descent (2010). Of Good Report (2013) is his second feature.

Black-and-white crime film, vaguely reminiscent of a Western. In a far corner of South Africa where time has all but stood still, a teacher falls in love with a pupil. He seems intelligent and in control, but falls into a downward spiral. The girl disappears.

They were called Scorpions. A South African elite unit that was allowed to operate above the police and beyond politics. Trained fighters in black suits. Like cowboys, they tackled corrupt police chiefs. A kind of Western, but then about things that really happened not so long ago.
