Guillermo Del Toro

Guillermo DEL TORO (1964, Mexico) was taught at the film school Centro de Investigación y Estudios Cinematográficos. He made about ten short films before finishing his first acclaimed feature film, Cronos (1993). Del Toro has directed a variety of films in his career, ranging from comic book adaptations to fantasy and horror films. He is also a producer, screenwriter and novelist. In 1998, Del Toro fled from Mexico because of the worsened political situation. He is currently an American citizen. He became the first Mexican director to win the Golden Lion for best film in Venice with his Cold War drama film The Shape of Water (2017).
