Actor, writer and filmmaker Guillaume NICLOUX (1966, France) started his career in theatre, and is renowned for directing films and series for French television. He is also co-founder of the theatre company, La Troupe, alongside two fellow actors Didier Abot and Nicolas Jouhet. His first film Les enfants volants (1990) was selected for film festivals in Berlin and Toronto. He won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival for The Kidnapping of Michel Houellebecq. Valley of Love (2015) was selected for the Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, while his films have also appeared at IFFR in 1993 (La vie crevée) and 1995 (Faut pas rire du bonheur). Selected for IFFR 2023, he has described his film La tour (2022) as a contender for his most personal work for its portrayal of his childhood fear of a “life devouring void”.
