George Sluizer
George Sluizer (1932 - 2014) studied at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques, IDHEC in paris and made his first short film De Lage Landen in 1961, which won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale. In 1988, he made Spoorloos after Het Gouden Ei (1984), the book by Tim Krabbé. This was noticed in the USA, where he then made an English spoken version called The Vanishing (1993). He also made Dark Blood (2012), a film which was mostly shot in 1993 and which is particularly known as the last film River Phoenix acted in.
