Erkki Kurenniemi

Erkki KURENNIEMI (1941, Finland) is a philosopher, multimedia artist, designer and a pioneer of Finnish electronic music. He is best known for his designed electronic instruments and music compositions. In 1961 he founded the electronic music studio for the Department of Musicology at the University of Helsinki. Mika Taanila made a documentary about the Erkki Kurenniemi called The Future Is Not What It Used to Be. In 2011 Kurenniemi received Order of the Lion of Finland medal from The President of Finland.
