Eelko Ferwerda
Filmmaker Eelko FERWERDA (1973, Netherlands) graduated cum laude from Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. His award-winning works contain different styles and techniques and are always concept-driven and visually strong. After years of designing and producing videos for theatre, his debut short film American Dreams (2006) won the Hollywood Discovery Award at the Hollywood Film Festival. His ultra-short film Geboren en getogen (2010) was selected for over 60 film festivals across the world, including the main competition at Clermont-Ferrand, and received six awards. In 2012, he co-wrote and directed the worldwide internet hoax ‘Human Birdwings’. In 2015, he directed ‘Amani’, the critically acclaimed VR experience for Terre des Hommes, which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. In 2020, he depicted and animated the research paper ‘Descartes Was Here; In Search of the Origin of Cartesian Space’ by C.P.G. Driessen, for Rem Koolhaas’s exhibition Countryside, The Future at the Guggenheim Museum.

Jacob's Way
After his dog almost died on his way to Santiago de Compostella, Jacob Splinter, a sporting senior, accepts the invitation of a man to take a break in his holiday home. When Jacob wants to resume his journey, the seemingly hospitable family has no intention of letting him go. Jacob’s Way is a viewer’s quest through Jacob’s head, past and the present are indistinguishable.
