Dianna BARRIE is an experimental filmmaker. She found her way into filmmaking as a middle ground between the pursuit of abstract music and philosophy. Together with Richard Tuohy she established Nanolab, which is a hand-processing lab for super-8 black-and-white and colour reversal film. This exploration has spread beyond individual work to the establishment of the Artist Film Workshop. In 2017 she made the film Inside the Machine with Richard Tuohy.

Dizzying expanded cinema consists of a 16mm projection of double the number of dot patterns and a deafening noise caused by those same dots.
On the Invention of the Wheel
Ultra-short, 16mm sequence of a bicycle wheel turning becomes a repeating machine thanks to the power of the loop. Homage to the mechanical art of film.
The Last Train
Footage from the trailer of Kereta Api Terakhir, found in the archive of Lab Laba Laba, melts into a soup of highly imaginative imagery of chemigrammed perforations.
Inside the Machine
Performative optical sound film with three 16mm projectors. Humans and machines merge on screen; this is how cinema works.
