Diana Vidrascu
Diana VIDRASCU (1987, Romania) is a cinematographer and filmmaker who also works with photography and installations. After completing her MA in Cinematography at the National Film Academy in Bucharest, she moved to Paris and worked as a director of photography with, amongst others, Louis Henderson, Emilija Skarnulyte, Julien Crépieux and Peter Snowdon. In France, she also joined Re:Voir Video, a leading distributor of experimental film, where she is production manager. As a director, she investigates the analogue technologies of cinema, questioning the medium’s visual codes and conventions. Her storytelling displays interruptions in the logical flow of events, creating parallels with the fragility of memory, the personal image of time and the paradigms through which reality is perceived. She made her debut in 2017 with two shorts: What Time Is Made Of and Gylfaginning – The Deluding of King Gylfi, both of which were shown at international festivals. Le silence des sirènes/The Silence of the Sirens (2019), Vidrascu’s free adaptation of a Kafka short story, has its world premiere at IFFR.
