Christiaan van Schermbeek
Still: Altijd alles andersChristiaan van SCHERMBEEK (1956, Netherlands) is a documentary filmmaker and artistic director of Moois Cinematics in Rotterdam. He started the cultural TV magazine Moois on a regional public TV channel in 1996, which until 2019 was the longest-running TV programme on culture in the history of Dutch public broadcasting. He made multiple documentary films on arts, culture and architecture. From 2006 to 2010, he made the series Simply Cinema for IFFR. Among his most notable
works are the film adaptations of concerts by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the portraits
of its maestros Valery Gergiev, Conducting Doesn’t Tire Me (2008), and Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Yannick (2018), and many film portraits of various artists and young architects, The Archiprix Series. The documentary film Unusually Unusual (2022) is a co-production between Moois Cinematics and Theater Babel Rotterdam.
