Charles Ahearn

Charles Ahearn (1951, Binghampton, New York) attended a fine arts course at the Whitney Museum and at Colgate University. In 1982 he wrote, directed and produced the first real hip-hop film, Wild Style, and has made several videos independently. He has also taught film and been an art critic. Charles Ahearn was born in 1951 in Binghampton, New York. He studied first at the Whitney Museum, then graduated in 1973 from Colgate University. Apart from various personal and experimental videos he made the feature film Wild Style, a 'rap-graffiti-breakdance musical'. Ahearn has written several scenarios for other films and is also teacher and journalist.
