Aparna Sen
Still: paramaAparna SEN (1945, India) is a mainstay in Bengali cinema, working for decades as a filmmaker, screenwriter and actress. Daughter of critic and filmmaker, Chidananda Dasgupta and award winning costume designer, Supriya Dasgupta, Sen made her acting debut at the age of 15 in a 1961 Satyajit Ray film. In 1981 she directed her debut film, 36 Chowringhee Lane (1981). Her film Parama (1985) was awarded at the National Film Awards India and is shown retrospectively at IFFR 2024.
