Andrei SCHTAKLEFF (1979, France) was born in Paris and currently lives in Los Angeles. He co-directed his first film Exile and the Kingdom with Jonathan le Fourn. This documentary about the refugee camp at Sangatte, near Calais in France, premiered in 2008 at the film festival of Venice. The Magic Mountain is his second film.

A camera takes us deep underground where Bolivian miners toil in primitive conditions. A time-machine film that takes us through the pitch black to a primeval altar and simultaneously confronts us with the tourist industry’s voyeurism.
