Still: The Store
Ami-Ro SKÖLD (1977, Sweden) is a director, animator, screenwriter, producer and a founder of Onoma Productions. Their first feature film was 2009's Nasty Old People. Their next feature, Granny's Dancing on the Table (2015), earned Sköld a nomination for the Guldbagge for Best Director. Sköld has become noted for their blend of stop-motion animation with live action. The technique of animating by hand allows Sköld to connect to their characters through the body rather than just through words and rational thought. Sköld's directing style has similar aims, relying heavily on improvisation, often using actors with little or no formal training. This way of working creates characters that are not simple tools of the script, but are rooted in the body, experiences and intuition of the actor as well the as director.
