      Alberto Grifi

      Alberto GRIFI (1938-2007, Rome, Italy) is known to be one of the first Italian experimental film directors. He got involved with the world of cinema at a very young age because his father was making special camera's. He enjoyed himself experimenting with photography, making paintings and filmrecording, and developed his own new visual grammar that could describe his infinite fantasies. Unfortunately his film debut Cristo '63 (1963) is destroyed (or still hided) by the Italian politicians. The documentary Anna (1975), co-directed with Massimo Sarchielli, became a cult movie in the alternative filmcircuit. It was screened at the Berlin Film Festival (1975), the Biennale in Venice (1975), and in Cannes (1976).
