Alain RESNAIS (1922-2014, France) was an editor and filmmaker. He is seen as one of the founders of the Nouvelle Vague. From the age of thirteen, he made 8mm short films. He attended L’Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC) for one year to be trained as an editor and worked as a professional editor until the late 1950s. He began his career by making short documentaries, including Van Gogh (1948), Guernica (1950,) and Statues Also Die (1953).
