Abderrahmane Sissako
Abderrahmane SISSAKO (1961, Mauritania) grew up in Mali and Mauritania and studied at the VGIK, the film institute in Moscow. Nowadays, he lives and works in France. Sissako was jury member at the Berlinale in 2003 and the Cannes Film Festival in 2007. His Timbuktu (2014), based on a true tragedy, won the Ecumenical Prize and François Chalais Prize in Cannes.
