Writers & Anglers is a newly formed company based in the United Kingdom. W&A is committed to producing daring and provocative films, television series and theatre in the UK and EU. Writers & Anglers launched in September, 2019 with the theatre project Mercy, which was presented at London’s Clapham Fringe Festival. The play will be transferring to the renown Park Theatre, Off-West End in Summer 2021.

We are currently in development on several TV series, including Alex in Wonderland, which was selected into the highly competitive MIA Market Drama Pitch Series in Rome. We are in development on the film adaptation of Mercy starring Oscar-winner F Murray Abraham, Hiam Abbass, Emun Elliott, Yasmin Paige and Sarah Snook. Mercy was officially selected to participate in Rome’s MIA Market, Toronto’s IFF, and London’s PFM. 

Mandi Riggi is a writer/director/producer (associate member of Directors UK and member of 2021 BFI NETWORK X BAFTA Crew.) She is one of 12 selected to participate in Serial Eyes, a post-graduate training program for European showrunners. Mandi’s feature film directorial debut, Mercy, which she is also a producer on was selected into Toronto Film Festival’s IFF programme, participated at Film London’s PFM, and at the MIA Co-Production Market in Rome, where Mandi secured a high profile sales agent (Visit Films)The film awaits the end of the pandemic to begin filming in 2021.

Mandi’s film Five Storeys Underground recently participated in Film London’s PFM. Mandi is currently in development on her TV series Alex in Wonderland. Mandiʼs short film Spade starring Jorge Garcia (Lost, Hawaii 5-0), which she wrote, directed and produced, premiered at Rome Independent Film Festival and won the Katra award at the Katra Film Series. It will soon premiere on Shorts TV. Her previous film, Parallel Passage, was nominated Best Short at the Deauville Festival by a jury presided by Roman Polanski. It went on to travel major international film festivals including Hamptons, Newport Beach, São Paulo, Huesca, San Diego, and premiered on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) where Mandi was a featured director. Mandi’s animated script, Shoe In was a finalist at the Fantastic Planet festival in Australia and her screenplay, Before You Say Goodbye, was selected into the FIND Producers Lab, where Mandi participated as writer/producer.

Mandi is also a playwright and directs for the stage. Her play Leviticus premiered at Edinburgh Fringe and 59e59 Theatre (NY). Her play Mercy, will premiere at London’s Park Theatre in 2022.
