Lucia Meyer-Marais

In 2021, after 15 years of freelancing in various positions in film and TV production, Lucia Meyer-Marais turned to an indie film producer career, to become a scripted commissioning editor for M-Net. Based in South Africa, its parent company Multichoice, is the world's largest linear TV, subscriber-based broadcaster.

That same year her debut producing feature film I Am All Girls premiered worldwide on Netlifx.

So far at M-Net, she has supervised the launch of three flagship and different genre categorised productions: A Showmax original documentary called Steinheist, produced by the team who made Devilsdorp. A new Afrikaans daily telenovela Diepe Waters (DeepWaters) by International Emmy nominated production company Penguin Films, as well as a first for Showmax, the Afrikaans crime thriller drama Donkerbos.

As a former freelance line producer, the history of her work includs the 2018 Festival de Cannes Un Certain Regard film Harversters, from the talented French team at Cinema Defacto. She was also the production supervisor on thre co-productions Rogue (starring Megan Fox), Endangered Species (starring Rebecca Romijn) and Trackers (starring James Alexander).

Her joy is her family. She is married to a multiple award-winning cinematographer Tom Marais (Hunter Killer, Reyka) and together they raise their almost five-year-old twins in Johannesburg, South Africa.
