Julie Groleau
Julie Groleau has been a movie producer for the last 12 years in Canada. In 2012, she co-founds Couronne Nord, kicking off her career with the production of several short films, such as Overpass (Patrice Laliberté, winner of the 2015 TIFF Best Canadian Short Film award). She also acts as an executive producer on short film Crème de menthe (Jean-Marc E. Roy & Philippe-David Gagné, selected at the 2017 Cannes Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight). It wasn’t long before she jumped into feature films as a producer on Kim St-Pierre’s Réservoir, and on Patrice Laliberté’s The Decline, the very first Quebec feature film to be financed by Netflix. Her last feature, Very Nice Day (Patrice Laliberté), was released in 2022.
Couronne Nord – Canada
Couronne Nord is a production company founded in 2012. It has been providing us with stories as poignant as they are original, making sure to share their oblique outlook on the world. The company first dabbled in short films (Overpass, Best Canadian Short Film at TIFF 2015), and web content (the web series Game(r)). Couronne Nord made its feature debut with The Decline (2020), the first Quebec Netflix Original, and Very Nice Day (2022), the first Quebec feature film using a cellphone as a camera.
