BattleScar – Punk Was Invented by Girls

This VR installation allows you to experience a year in the life of Lupe, a Puerto Rican-American teenager in grimy New York during the punk era. While the animated VR experience switches back and forth between Lupe's perspective and an outside one, her story is revealed through diary excerpts in a voice-over by actress Rosario Dawson.

1978 is quite the year for Lupe. After befriending tough girl Debbie whilst in jail, the latter introduces her to the Bowery punk scene - where Lupe, the daughter of immigrants, finds like-minded outsiders for the first time in her life. The spider in this web of leather and safety pins is legendary musician Elda Stiletto. She takes Debbie and Lupe under her wing as the girls start their own punk band whilst trying to stay out of the clutches of a biker gang out for revenge.

Please make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your screening time to guarantee your seat & technical set-up. Late entry will not be possible.
