v = d/t stands for the physics formula which calculates velocity by dividing the distance travelled by the time that it took to travel that distance. This film explores the possibility of measuring distances between loved ones through time zones. The soundtrack is comprised of manipulated recordings of personal and tragic phone messages left on voicemail when individuals could not connect due to great time zone differences, while the visual elements present simple and contemplative images of telephones. This handmade film incorporates various techniques including hand-processing, optical printing, contact printing, layers and masks. Through these various elements, this film becomes a representation of the potential isolation manifest in daylight savings time around the world.
