Short Film programme
Short films can be found at many places during IFFR. They are everywhere: as part of video installations, preceding feature films at Pathé premieres and, naturally, in combined programmes.
Most of the short film screenings take place from the first Thursday to Monday of the festival. Central short film hub is LantarenVenster, a modern arthouse cinema situated on the south bank of the river Maas.
Tiger Awards Competition for Short Films
The short films have their own competition at IFFR. What differentiates it from the Hivos Tiger Awards Competition for feature-length films is the fact that it's not just for young and upcoming talents; all filmmakers have a chance at winning. About 20 to 25 short films compete for three equal Canon Tiger Awards, each worth 3000 Euro.
- The selection of this year will be anounced on January 13, 2016.
As Long as it Takes
Films between 1 and 65 minutes long, from all over the world. Brought together in compilation programmes or screened ahead of features. In the Short Profiles or Specials, the work of outstanding filmmakers is highlighted. Previous profiles and specials featured the works of Mika Taanila, Kleber Mendonça and Jodie Mack, and the Vertical Cinema project.
As Long as it Takes: short
As Long as it Takes: mid-length
