Based in Chile, Avispa Cine is an independent production company focused on developing filmmaker-driven projects. Known nationally as one of the most prolific short-film companies, their productions have participated in numerous international festivals such as Cinefondation (Cannes), San Sebastian and Clermont-Ferrand among others. Their 2016 feature film release El Primero de la Familia (Firstborn) by Carlos Leiva, turned out to be one of the most successful projects in Latin American development workshops, such as BAL (Bafici), Casa América-Fundación Carolina, and BoliviaLAB. Currently, Avispa Cine is working with two debuting and one experienced director in the development of three new features, and developing their first interactive documentary.
Felipe (Santiago, 1987) has a bachelor’s degree in film from Arcis University (Chile) and a master’s in film, specialised in directing from ESCAC (Barcelona). He is also a participant in the workshop on production at EICTV (Cuba). In 2010 he founded the production company Avispa Cine and in 2015 he founded the Chilean Independent Producers Association (API). He has produced 10 short films and one feature film, which were released at several international festivals. He is presently in development and production of his directorial debut of a feature film, a hybrid film that he has been producing and shooting for several years. Currently he is working as an Executive Producer on three feature films. He also teaches production in two film schools in Chile.
