- Where are the festival locations?
All festival venues are easily accessible by public transport. Most places are within walking distance from Rotterdam Central Station and from each other, with LantarenVenster on the Kop van Zuid as an exception. LantarenVenster is easily accessible by metro, tram and bicycle. From Rotterdam Central Station, subway line D or tram 20, 23 or 25; get off at Wilhelminaplein. - How do I get to IFFR?
International Film Festival Rotterdam is easily accessible by both public transport and by car.
Trains from the Netherlands stop at Rotterdam Central Station. Tip: plan your journey on the website of the NS, and check for the departure date travel information.
Travelling from Amsterdam, Schiphol or Breda? You can be really fast in Rotterdam by using high speed Intercity Direct. Note: for Intercity Direct an additional charge is needed next to a regular train ticket.

If you are coming to the Theatre Square, you can go from the Weenatunnel to an underground connection to park in parking garage Kruisplein or parking garage Schouwburgplein. The Schouwburgplein car park can also be reached via Charles Doormanstraat. Go south of the Cup, you can park in the garage Erasmus Bridge. More information: City Guide Rotterdam.
- How do I get to Rotterdam?
Many visitors will arrive at Schiphol Airport, a major international aviation hub located on the main railway line between Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The second largest, Rotterdam Airport, is a regional airport located close to the city centre. Rotterdam Central Station is well linked to international (hi speed) train lines to and from the UK, Germany, France and Belgium.
Arrival by plane at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport
The easiest way to get from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport to Rotterdam and back is by train. From Rotterdam Central Station, it is a 5 minute walk to festival centre de Doelen (Kruisplein 40).
Schiphol Railway Station is located directly at the airport. Trains run four times per hour and take approximately 50 minutes. Train tickets can be obtained from the yellow vending machine with the blue sign and NS logo across the top at the main entrance of Schiphol Airport (reservation not necessary).
There is a high speed train option available called the ‘Intercity Direct’, which runs between Amsterdam Central Station and Breda (reservation not necessary). This train takes you from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport to Rotterdam Central Station in 25 minutes. Please note that a supplement is required, which you can also buy at the yellow vending machines.

Arrival by plane at Rotterdam The Hague Airport
Arriving at Rotterdam Airport, taxis are available in front of the terminal building. A shuttle bus service runs every 20 minutes (RET bus 33) and takes you in about 20 minutes to Rotterdam Central Station. From there it is only about 300 meters to the IFFR Professionals Centre in 'de Doelen', entrance Kruisplein. You can find the RET bus stop on the left leaving the airport terminal; tickets are available from the driver. Bus 33 runs from Rotterdam Airport to Rotterdam Central Station on Mon-Fri from 05.50 till 0.00; Sat from 06.05 till 0.00; Sun 08.00 till 0.00. Bus 33 runs from Rotterdam Central Station to Rotterdam Airport Mon-Fri 06.00 till 0.25; Sat 06.30 till 0.25; Sun 08.30 till 0.25 hrs.
Arrival by train at Rotterdam Central Station
Trains from over the entire Netherlands as well as international trains stop in Rotterdam Central Station. Tip: plan your train journey via NS.nl, and check the latest travel updates before departure.
From Belgium and France, Rotterdam can easily be reached with the Thalys high speed train, which runs ten times a day. When travelling from the UK you can take the Eurostar to Brussels and transfer to the Thalys there.
When travelling from Amsterdam, the Intercity Direct travels over the high-speed rail line. It is therefore the fastest connection between Amsterdam and Rotterdam via Schiphol Airport.Please note: to travel by Intercity Direct, an extra supplement is required.
Rotterdam is easily accessible by the A13, A15, A16 and A20 motorways. There are several parking options available in the centre of Rotterdam.

- How do I get around in Rotterdam?
The tram, bus and metro in Rotterdam are all administered by the RET. In all of these public transport vehicles, you need an OV-chipkaart to check in and out. This is a reusable smartcard for travelling in the Netherlands. You can store credit on it to pay for your public transport travels as you go.
Heart of the festival
De Doelen is the beating heart of the festival. You can find it within walking distance of Rotterdam Central Station. Here you can find the central cash register and the service and information desk, but it's also the place to get a drink and a nice meal.
