FAQ Online Festival

Here you will find the most asked questions about attending IFFR online. Looking for more general information? Check out our practical info pages for the online festival.

The films in the official selection can unfortunately only be viewed online within the Netherlands. The IFFR Talks programme are exceptions: they can be viewed worldwide and you don’t have to buy tickets. Just join the stream from the respective page, to be found on the programme overview page.

Yes that’s possible. For on demand there is a substantial capacity. But this is not infinite. So if you are certain you want to watch a film, don’t wait to buy tickets until the last minute.

You do not need your e-ticket for online screenings. The access is connected to your account. As soon as you’ve bought a ticket, you can see that programme in your Agenda. From there you will also be able to access the stream as soon as it is available.

The regular ticketprice for a feature film is 13 euro. The ticketprices for shorts & mid-length is 9 euro. Students and people under 23 years will pay 8 euro for a feature film and 5 euro for shorts & mid-length. Special prices and discounts are there in cooperation with some of our partners.

On demand films may be started at any moment that they are available. So this could be much later than the date and time you bought your ticket. Please note: if the film lasts longer than the time still available, then you can finish watching but you can not restart after the period has ended. So you can not refresh your page or re-open the stream if there is a technical issue.

Most importantly: as soon as you press the play-button for an on demand film, you have 24 hours to finish the film (within the viewing period during the festival). If you haven't finished watching the film as the viewing period ends, the film will continue playing. However, you can no longer refresh your browser or otherwise restart the film. Our live chat can also no longer assist you with technical issues. We therefore recommend watching the film in its entirety within the viewing period.

This is possible in principle, however it is always a good idea to run through our technical checklist first.

The On Demand film selection is released in three parts on IFFR.com: the first part will be available On Demand from Thursday 25 January at 09:00, the second from Wednesday  31 January at 09:00 and the third part on Thursday 01 February. All On Demand films are available until 23.00 on Sunday. Please make sure you start watching before 23.00. After that time you can not start watchin anymore.

There is a lot of capacity available, but not unlimited. Also online films can be sold out.
