In 2019, IFFR presented a large overview of the films of Portuguese artist and filmmaker Edgar Pêra. Part of that retrospective was a special screening,in order to get some feedback from 'the amazed spectator', of material that became Kinorama – Beyond the Walls of the Real. This film is the final chapter of a decade of investigation in stereoscopic format, and serves as the conclusion to Pêra’s PhD film dissertation, The Amazed Spectator.

A true eye-opener for those interested in what it means to be a spectator, Kinorama is also a self-reflexive 3D movie, combining images and audio from past and future fiction films with conversations with researchers from various fields. The film offers a way of reflecting on the relation of Art with the Real, and points towards new directions for cinema and beyond. Contributing writers, scientists, artists and critics include our very own Olaf Möller, who among other things is the current programmer for IFFR’s Cinema Regained.
