On Saturday 7 December, we'll be streaming the European Film Awards Ceremony 2019 here on Watch live and see the winners in the categories European Film, Comedy, Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI, Documentary, Short Film, and more.

Several nominated films have a link to IFFR. Queen of Hearts (nominated for best actress), Tel Aviv on Fire (nominated for best comedy) and Ray & Liz (nominated the FIPRESCI Award) all screened at IFFR 2019. Recently we screened Céline Sciamma’s Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (nominated for best director and best screenwriter) as part of our year-round LV ♥ IFFR Encore programme. And Hlynur Pálmason’s A White, White Day (whose Ingvar E. Sigurdsson is nominated for best actor) was selected for CineMart 2018.

Four nominated films will screen at the upcoming edition of IFFR: Beanpole by Kantemir Balagov (whose Viktoria Miroshnichenko is nominated for best actress), L’extraordinaire voyage de Marona by Anca Damian (nominated for best animated feature), Atlantique by Mati Diop (nominated for the FIPRESCI Award) and Les misérables by Ladj Ly (nominated for best film, best screenwriter and the FIPRESCI Award).

The European Film Awards are organised by the European Film Academy. Each year, they bring together more than 3,500 European film professionals with the aim of promoting Europe’s film culture. IFFR has been a privileged partner of the EFA for years.
