Dan Koh
Dan Koh 许达伟 (Singapore) is an independent film producer, writer, and co-founder — with director Yeo Siew Hua —of the production group Incantation Films. An alumnus of the Southeast Asia Fiction Film Lab (SEAFIC) x Produire au Sud 2016–7, Talents Tokyo 2018, and Southeast Asian Producers Network of the Singapore IFF (SGIFF) 2020, he associate-produced and script-consulted Yeo Siew Hua’s thriller, A Land Imagined (2018) — winner of the Locarno Film Festival’s Golden Leopard 2018. Dan also produced Lei Yuan Bin’s observational documentary on migration and modern slavery, I Dream of Singapore (2019; Berlinale 2020), and Yeo’s music documentary, The Obs: a Singapore Story (2014; Fukuoka IFF 2016). He line-produced and co-wrote Virgile Fraisse’s video-art film SEA-ME-WE 3 (2018; FIDMarseille 2019) and associate- produced Daniel Hui’s experimental horror Demons (2018; In Competition, Busan IFF 2018, Berlinale 2019). He is currently co-producing and script-consulting Yeo’s surveillance thriller Stranger Eyes (slated 2023) and developing regional projects
Incantation Films – Singapore
Based in Singapore, Incantation Films is a film production, activities, and curation company founded by Golden Leopard-winning writer-director Yeo Siew Hua and producer-writer Dan Koh in 2021. Inspired by Southeast Asian mythologies and the very magic of cinema, Incantation Films aims to encourage the growth of bold, independent, and uncanny films and cinematic programmes in Singapore, Southeast Asia, and Asia.
The company produced Yeo's video An Invocation to the Earth (2020) for the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore (NTU CCA Singapore) and Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21) st_age, where it premiered, in addition to Dharamshala IFF (India), Singapore Art Week, Berlin's Sinema Transtopia, and more. Currently, Incantation Films is producing two independent feature films from China – documentary The Sea, The Bougainvillea and the Poet Shu Ting by Hua Zhenyi and fiction Berlin, Without Me by Ruan Lanxi.
