Film Still: The World to Come

We’re opening the June chapter of our 50th-anniversary edition on 2 June with The World to Come: a romantic frontier drama by Norwegian filmmaker and actress Mona Fastvold. The film is part of IFFR 2021’s Harbour lineup.

The World to Come, Mona Fastvold, 2020, USA
“There is something between us I just can’t fathom.” This is how pioneer Abigail describes her feelings for her new neighbour. A gorgeous, devastating love story centred around a relationship between two women that challenges male-dominated frontier society. Director Mona Fastvold captures the harsh nature of America in all its romance and ruthlessness.

The film will be shown online on Wednesday 2 June at 19:00 hours (CEST) – without a 72-hour on demand option – to mark the opening of the festival.

Mona Fastvold will also give a Big Talk on 3 June.

Ticket sales go live on 21 May!
