Meet the IFFR 2023 ambassadors
17 January 2023
This edition we’re partnering with six creative Rotterdammers who’ll be our IFFR ambassadors for 2023. Throughout the festival, they’ll have full access to the programme to produce IFFR-related content that brings together their unique style with the experience of IFFR. Meet the IFFR 2023 ambassadors: Sara Fattahi, Hana, Roos van der Jagt, Reiner Brands, Marwan Magroun, and Sammie Sedano.
Roos van der Jagt
Roos van der Jagt is a new-media artist and filmmaker from the Netherlands. She creates another world while changing the world we live in. Roos presented her film Taro at IFFR 2021, which was created with an application designed by her. The book Roos wrote to accompany the movie is a way to further explore the topics of racism, homophobia, and other forms of discrimination.
Reinier Brands
Reinier Brands is a 26-year-old film enthusiast from Den Bosch. He has previously worked as a Screen Content Manager at Vue Cinemas and a Marketing Intern at Entertainment One, showcasing his passion for film. After spending a brief time in South Korea, Korean films have become a personal favourite of his.
Sara Fattahi
Sara is a 25-year-old media design student currently based in the vibrant city of Rotterdam. As a filmmaker and photography enthusiast, she is passionate about using her art to tell stories and raise awareness about important social topics, particularly those related to feminism and activism.
Marwan Magroun
Marwan Magroun is a multi-award winning Dutch-Tunisian commercial and documentary photographer and director at HALAL Amsterdam. Magroun strives to make it more accessible and inclusive by utilising the art of storytelling. He considers this as a necessary addition to our collective memory in which empowering people is an important outcome. His bicultural background provides him diverse perspectives on social topics such as identity development and representation. The metropolitan context is his playground with interests submerged in street culture, music, fashion, design and urban architecture.
Sammie Sedano
Sammie Sedano writes about the search for his own identity as a young maker in the big city. Inspired by the nightlife and sounds of the neighbourhoods, he takes you into his mysterious yet confrontational world. With influences such as Outkast, Dwele, and Curtis Mayfield but also Kempi, quite Names and the Opposites are reflected in his narrative music. His upcoming album ‘Pearls of the Night’ is full of live instruments, in-depth texts and compelling stories.
