Doubt by Matteo Lonardi

Leonardo Da Vinci is revered today as a genius who dared to dream – but what few know is that he was often criticized by his contemporaries, and he doubted the value of his work. This interactive VR experience explores the man behind the legacy, by looking at self-doubt in the creative process. Starting in Leonardo’s late Rome studio, the story unfolds by focusing on three objects that lead the user into the virtual spaces of three renowned contemporary artists.

Floating with Spirits by Juanita Onzaga and An Oost

This project follows a young indigenous girl in the mystic mountains of Mexico, who embarks on a spiritual journey that gives meaning to the legacy she must now protect. The Cassette for timescapes production spans Belgium, Colombia and Mexico, and aspires to "challenge the perception of the viewer, using a combination of 360 documentary footage and technically enhanced, magical layers."

Odd&Ity by Ricardo Laganaro

Among the selection is the latest project by Venice Film Festival’s Best VR Experience winner Ricardo Laganaro. The Brazil-based ARVORE Immersive Experiences production is a fictional exploration into a faraway world divided in two. Dire circumstances require respective inhabitants Odd and Ity to overcome their aversions and differences and work together, to save their world as they know it. The multi-player, interactive experience is intended as a reflection of our times.

Shock The Monkey by Blies Brothers and François Le Gall

Here we follow SOMA, an activist against the dominant system. SOMA is also the code name for the brain liberation program she and her team are running. The a_BAHN production is described by the Luxembourg and France-based makers as "a collective experience of anticipation about the privatization of our mind."

As part of IFFR Pro Days, taking place during IFFR 2020, CineMart offers filmmakers and producers the opportunity to present their new project to film professionals and gain insight into creative development and financing.

Venice success back in the Netherlands

The acclaimed live cinema performance Cosmos Within Us by Tupac Martir saw its Dutch premiere in Eye, Amsterdam on Tuesday 12 November. The stimulating interactive VR experience – which experiments with a live orchestra, scent and disorientation – was selected and developed with the support IFFR Pro and VR Days Europe last year, and only six months later, went on to be the hit of the virtual reality section of the 2019 Venice Film Festival and to win the 2019 ‘Spirit of Raindance’ Immersive Award.
