IFFR 2022: first films announced

03 November 2021

Film Still: As in Heaven, Tea Lindeburg, 2021

We’re excited to announce the first films for our 51st edition. Our upcoming festival will take place from 26 January to 6 February, and is planned as a physical event reuniting audiences, filmmakers and industry guests in Rotterdam. Feature debuts by Alberto De Michele and David Easteal will have their world premieres, as names like Tan Chui Mui and Apichatpong Weerasethakul return as part of a rich festival programme.

Festival director Vanja Kaludjercic:
“With huge excitement, we’re announcing the return of our filmmaking community to Rotterdam. This is an opportunity to fully demonstrate the revamped programme structure which we announced last year, but more importantly, it's the chance to finally celebrate the collective experience of cinema again. The programme we’re building for IFFR 2022 will be one worthy of a full return to cinemas and venues in Rotterdam, and this mix of exciting debuts and seasoned comebacks in our first announcement reflect that perfectly. As we move towards the physical return of our festival, we remain determined and ready to adapt to whatever the circumstances require.”
