Get ready for IFFR 2022: Return of the Tiger

IFFR 2022: Return of the Tiger is a weekend of screenings from Friday 14 October to Sunday 16 October 2022 at Cinerama Filmtheater and LantarenVenster in Rotterdam. For the first time since 2020 we’re planning a full unrestricted return to cinemas to screen films from our 2022 competition selections. Here you can find everything you need to get yourself ready.

Over 30 films we selected for our regular festival dates at the start of the year are finally making it to the big screen. From our flagship Tiger Competition which seeks out daring breakthrough filmmakers, the Big Screen Competition which bridges the gap between popular, classic and arthouse cinema, to the Ammodo Tiger Short Competition, there’s a lot to squeeze in over the weekend. Get your tickets 

Don’t miss the start of the ticket sales on Tiger Members get exclusive access from Wednesday 28 September at 20:00 with the general sale beginning the following day, Thursday 29 September at 20:00. Take a look at our special discounts which include under 23-rates, Cineville and CJP perks and more.

Earlier this month we changed our ticketing system provider, which means if you already have an online account you will need to reset your password. If you don’t have an account, make a new one and be prepared for the start of the sales.

Short film lover? 

14 superbly distinct short films between 1 to 63 minutes long will screen from the 2022 Ammodo Tiger Short Competition. Come along to our Tiger Short Film Marathon and immerse yourself in the complete set, from the forensic multimedia world of Taiwanese artist Hsu Che-yu in The Making of Crime Scenes, to the Columbus-come-vampire mashup like no other, Nosferasta: First Bite by US filmmakers Bayley Sweitzer and Adam Khalil.

Accreditations and interviews

Journalists who wish to cover the screenings may apply for an accreditation via [email protected]. The press team will be happy to facilitate interviews with attending filmmakers on request.

We’ve launched a dedicated campaign for Return of the Tiger, designed by Rotterdam design agency 75B, featuring neon colours and hand-written letters to capture the energy that we feel for our return to cinemas.

Our October weekend should get you nicely in the mood for the full-on festival experience. Our next edition, the 52nd, will take place from Wednesday 25 January to Sunday 5 February 2023. Mark your calendars!
