Nouveau marché presents five VR projects at the Festival du nouveau cinéma Montréal (FNC), one of which will be invited to CineMart 2022.
The first edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal’s (FNC) industry market takes place from 6 – 8 October, 2021, and like the festival itself – now in its 50th edition – it aims to champion forward-looking cinematic developments and technologies. Five VR projects will be presented alongside 12 feature length fiction titles in development.
Each of the five projects, which were curated in collaboration with IFFR Pro Immersive Manager Jolinde den Haas, will be pitched at a session on 7 October. A CAD $5,000 prize will be awarded to the best pitch by an expert jury. One of the projects will then be selected for the 2022 edition of CineMart at IFFR 2022, increasing the number of VR projects in Rotterdam from four in 2021 to five in 2022.
“We're very happy to partner up with this new initiative in Montreal,” said Jolinde den Haas. “FNC and IFFR share a common artistic vision with ambitions to discover new talent and promote innovation in both storytelling and technological approach. Their exciting new co-production market is the perfect partner as we take another step forward in growing our Immersive programme at IFFR Pro.”
