The call for applications for HBF+Europe: Minority Co-production support is open as per January 2018. The scheme is especially designed for international co-productions in which at least one European and one non-European producer is involved. It is now possible to submit your application through MyIFFR.
The Hubert Bals Fund aims to encourage European producers to participate as a minority co-producer in high-quality film projects by filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe. Therefore, the fund is looking for narrative feature films that will be co-produced between a European producer and one coming from a country on the HBF list of eligible countries.*

The director, writer, and main producer of eligible projects should live and work in, and be nationals of an eligible country. The HBF also provides support to feature films by filmmakers originating in one of the eligible countries, but now living in diaspora (e.g. dual nationality, refugee status or residency permit) in another country.
The applicant should be a production company that is constituted and active for at least two years in a country participating in the MEDIA Sub-programme and owned - directly or by majority participation - by nationals from such countries. The track record of the applicant should demonstrate a (majority or minority) participation in at least two completed feature films, including one international or European co-produced feature film.
Submitting your project
The scheme has a special spotlight on first and second feature films. Five projects can be awarded with a grant of €52,000 each.
