Bibhu Poudel
Bibhu was born and brought up in Parbat, a district in western Nepal. He has been active in filmmaking since his early twenties, working in different roles from assistant director to art director collecting experiences in different departments. He has undertaken the role of a producer for the past four years, producing two short films while also developing a feature. He writes, edits, and produces films for Mallaaj Productions, a start-up production house based in Kathmandu. Junu Ko Jutta ( The Shoes of a Little Girl) was the first short he produced and it was awarded a special mention at the 65th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival along with various national and international awards. Yet Another Winter, his second short, was screened at 26th Busan International Film Festival.
Mallaaj Productions – Nepal
Mallaaj Productions is an independent production company founded in 2020 amid the corona pandemic by a group of aspiring filmmakers, mostly students. Since its inception, it has produced three short films and a feature along with commissioned works like advertisements and music videos. It mostly includes rookie filmmakers as team members who work as volunteers to hone their skills and gain more exposure while also getting involved in professional filmmaking. It is nurturing upcoming writers, directors, cinematographers, and producers. Currently, two short films are under production while an experimental feature is under post-production.
