Bárbara Defanti

Bárbara Defanti is a producer born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. She has produced shorts as Borá (Best short at Rio Film Festival) and Demônia (Best short at Brasília Film Festival), and was involved in films selected for festivals including Venice, Tallinn, Biarritz, Málaga, and Toulouse. In 2022 she released The Club of Angels in Brazil, a co-production with Portugal, and her first feature as main producer. She was the content coordinator at Anima Mundi International Animation Festival and is engaged in training initiatives and projects that seek to value Brazilian producers, such as the book of interviews The producers of the new Pernambuco cinema: Female leaders in production, and Short-ing, an online platform that provides consultations for newcomers in the editing phase of their debut short films.

Sobretudo Produção - Brazil

Sobretudo Produção is an independent Brazilian production company based in Rio de Janeiro and led by the siblings Angelo Defanti (director and screenwriter) and Bárbara Defanti (producer). They’ve produced two features, A Place to Take Away (Biarritz 2012) and Meia Hora and the Headlines that made Headlines (Rio de Janeiro Int FF 2014), and fifteen shorts randing documentary, fiction and animation. In 2020, they premiered The Club of Angels at PÖFF - Tallinn Black Nights FF, a co-production between Brazil and Portugal. Sobretudo received funding by the Brazilian Audiovisual Agency to establish its creative core and develop a portfolio of varied projects, all adaptations from novels, short stories, comics and articles. Currently, it is in post-production for the documentary Verissimo and the feature Kasa Branca.
