Big Screen Competition
In the Big Screen Competition, the audience jury selects one IFFR film that not only deserves a place on a big screen in Dutch film theatres but also to be broadcasted on televisions across the Netherlands. VPRO will give the winning film the opportunity to be broadcasted on NPO 2.
The VPRO Big Screen Award is the result of years of collaboration between IFFR, VPRO and NPO. Eight films from the Big Screen Competition will be presented to an audience jury composed of five film lovers. The winning film will be shown in film houses and on television all across the Netherlands next year. In addition, the winner of the VPRO Big Screen Award wins a cash prize of €30,000, half of which goes to the distributor who purchases the film.

About the VPRO Big Screen Award
The VPRO Big Screen Award has been part of IFFR since 2013. The prize aims to promote quality cinema in the Dutch film theatres. IFFR works together with a Dutch distribution partner to realise the film release and provide financial support for the publication of the film, and VPRO ensures a greater audience with a television screening on NPO 2. The monetary prize of €30,000 will contribute to the publicity costs of the film release and the film’s television rights.
Big Screen Competition
The Big Screen Competition is a platform that launches arthouse films with wider international potential for theatrical distribution and strengthens the festival’s collaboration with distributors and sales agents.
