On a continent where film production is under severe pressure, we come across (film) collectives in various places in Sub-Saharan Africa where filmmakers collectively take up the challenges of filmmaking. More than a year ago we asked three of these collectives to make a short film for the 2020 edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
The Nest Collective from Kenya made the short film Tapi!. Negrume from Cape Verde made a 50 minute documentary with the title Kmêdeus. Together to be seen as part of the IFFR 2020 Perspectives programme Synergetic. Geração 80 from Angola needed 72 minutes for their movie Air Conditioner, so it ended up in the Bright Future programme section.
After this year's editie of IFFR we will assist with the distribution of these three films.
