Internship IFFR Pro – Projects Market
International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) presents a leading film festival and year-round programme. We support new and adventurous filmmaking talent not just in the screening room, but also through initiatives such as CineMart, the Hubert Bals Fund, Rotterdam Lab and other industry activities. In January each year, we bring together emerging and established filmmakers and artists from around the world to showcase a visionary programme of independent films, talks, exhibitions, performances, installations, immersive media and more. IFFR attracts over 300,000 visits to screenings and events annually.
In January/February 2026, we will celebrate the 55th edition of our 11-day festival, and we are looking for an enthusiastic intern for our IFFR Pro team. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience at one of the largest film festivals in the Netherlands!
About the internship
As an intern for the IFFR Pro Projects Market, you’ll be part of the IFFR Pro team. The industry-arm of IFFR that connects filmmakers with the international film industry through tailored networking, project development and market platforms.
You’ll work closely on the organisation of CineMart and Darkroom. CineMart is IFFR’s renowned co-production market, where filmmakers present new projects in development to potential partners like sales agents, co-producers, broadcasters and funders. Each year, around 700 industry professionals attend. Past CineMart projects include Jojo Rabbit by Taika Waititi, The Lobster by Yorgos Lanthimos and Force majeure by Ruben Östlund.
Darkroom showcases nearly completed films to a curated guest list, helping them find completion funding, sales agents and festival exposure.
You’ll become an active team member, contributing to both the preparation and delivery of these platforms. Tasks include guest communication, managing project info, scheduling meetings and supporting event logistics. This internship is a great opportunity to gain experience in international film industry events, and is suited for someone who’s detail-oriented, proactive and excited to support visionary filmmaking.

What will you do?
As an intern, you’ll be closely involved in the entire project selection and coordination process for CineMart and Darkroom. Your main tasks include:
- Assisting with project administration, reviewing submissions and gathering materials from selected teams.
- Keeping the project database and team inbox up-to-date.
- Helping prepare and send mailings, press releases and other communications.
- Coordinating hospitality for CineMart and Darkroom guests (project teams, mentors, juries).
- Supporting the set-up and smooth running of industry events, meetings and networking activities.
- Lending a hand with broader IFFR Pro activities, including talent development programmes, immersive projects. and industry gatherings.

Who are you?
- You’re currently studying Film, Media, Culture, Entertainment or Leisure Management in the Netherlands and receive supervision from your educational institution.
- You’re organised, communicative and comfortable working in English, both in speech and writing.
- You pick up digital tools quickly, know your way around Google Workspace and enjoy learning new systems.
- You’re hands-on, flexible and able to juggle multiple tasks even when things get busy.
- You take initiative, ask questions and aren’t afraid to dive into something new.
- You enjoy working in a team, bring a positive mindset and have a genuine interest in film, festivals and the international cultural scene.
- You have a student OV-chipcard or live in the Rotterdam area.
- You are available to work at our office in the heart of Rotterdam and don’t mind occasionally working irregular hours, especially in the run-up to and during the festival.
