Editorial Coordinator (English)

International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) presents a leading film festival and year-round programme. We support new and adventurous filmmaking talent not just in the screening room, but also through initiatives such as CineMart, the Hubert Bals Fund, Rotterdam Lab and other industry activities. In January each year, we bring together emerging and established filmmakers and artists from around the world to showcase a visionary programme of independent films, talks, exhibitions, performances, installations, immersive media and more. IFFR attracts over 300,000 visits to screenings and events annually.

In January/February 2026, we will celebrate the 55th edition of our 11-day festival, and we are looking for an Editorial Coordinator (f/m/x) to join our Communications team. This concerns a temporary contract (5-6 months).

About the role

The Editorial Coordinator oversees the writing, editing and translation process of film descriptions, biographies and other related content leading up to the presentation of the IFFR 2026 programme on IFFR.com and in IFFR publications like the programme guide and catalogue. Working in the Communications team, part of the larger Audiences & Communities division, the Editorial Coordinator reports directly to the Head of Communications.

  • Key responsibilities and accountabilities

    • Oversee writing, (copy) editing and translation process of film texts and biographies.
    • Ensure written content is representative of IFFR’s tone of voice, maintaining consistency across different platforms and publications.
    • Support with writing and editing of biographies and filmographies.
    • Coordinate the editorial team, consisting of freelance writers, editors and translators.
    • Maintain a detailed administration of the editorial team’s tasks and remuneration.
    • Edit film descriptions and review them with our selection committees.
    • Monitor programme selections and database workflows.
    • Assist with copy editing of the IFFR catalogue, programme guide and other publications.
    • Support the Audiences & Communities team with any other related tasks (within reason).
  • Who are you?

    Ideally you are/will have:

    • Previous experience as a text editor and, preferably, an understanding of creating website content;
    • Excellent English language skills (additional Dutch language skills are helpful, but are not a requirement);
    • A passion for text and film;
    • Critical, with a keen eye for detail;
    • Strong organisational and planning skills;
    • Someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and communicates clearly under pressure;
    • Exceptional written/oral/interpersonal communication skills and strong team-working skills;
    • Living in Rotterdam or within travelling distance and eligible to work in the Netherlands.

    • A 4-5 day working week, based at our office in central Rotterdam.
    • Temporary contract, 5-6 months, from mid-September 2025 to February 2026.
