Abhimanyu Dixit

Abhimanyu Dixit is a filmmaker, film educator, & campaigner based in Kathmandu, Nepal. As a filmmaker, he actively writes, directs, and produces films through his company Gauthali Entertainment, established in 2015. He is currently producing his first co-production project My Share of Sky (in development) directed by Sahara Sharma, his best friend and business partner. He has produced multiple short fiction films, TV shorts, and documentaries with women filmmakers and exploring women's issues - both social and political. He is also a faculty member for film and media studies at Kathmandu University, Nepal. Abhimanyu contributes as a film critic for The Kathmandu Post, Nepal’s leading broadsheet daily, reviewing Nepali and international films.

Gauthali Entertainment – Nepal

Gauthali Entertainment is a feminist cinema company based in Kathmandu, Nepal, specialising in filmmaking, campaigning, and film education. Gauthali’s first TV film, Chasing Rainbows (2013) won multiple accolades at Nepali film festivals worldwide. Gauthali also produces TV series analysing and commenting on contemporary culture, and advocating women’s rights. Gauthali also regularly conducts talk shows, film festivals, and film campaigns. Gauthali recently conducted a cinema symposium Let’s SHE-NEMA (2021) focusing on feminist reading of 50+ Nepali Films. Gauthali collaborates with Kathmandu University (since 2018) to produce video essays analysing contemporary Nepali films through a feminist lens. Gauthali regularly works with first time filmmakers, and prioritises women creatives.
